Release instructions

The best time of day to release beneficial insects into a cropping system is early in the morning or late afternoon when the temperatures are mild. There are slightly different release techniques for parasitic wasps and predatory beetles, these are discussed below.

Release instructions for parasitic wasps (ANA-TEC and COCCI-TEC)

Results can be seen 2-4 weeks after release of parasitic wasps, note black spot on larger mealybugs and mealybugs that appear swollen and hard as a sign of parasitism.

Step 1 – Hang the container as per illustration, onto a steady branch on the shaded side of the tree approximately 1.2m from the ground.

Step 2 – Remove only the red sticker on the lid to open the small exit hole, DO NOT REMOVE THE ENTIRE WHITE CAP.

Release instructions for predatory beetles (CRYPTO-TEC and NEPH-TEC)

Results can be seen 3-4 weeks after the release of predatory beetles, note beetle larvae and white mealybug remains in the area.

Step 1 – Hang the container as per illustration, onto a steady branch on the shaded side of the tree approximately 1.2m from the ground.

Step 2 – In the case of CRYPTO-TEC remove the white lid with the red sticker on it COMPLETELY, this will remove the honey strip from the container and allow the beetles to exit effortlessly. For NEPH-TEC only remove the red sticker on the lid to open the small exit hole.

Step 3 – Mark the trees where the beetles have been released for monitoring purposes.
